Wingspan MCP tools
Every tool the Wingspan MCP provides, and the rules all of them follow.
Use this reference to choose the Wingspan MCP tool that answers your contractor or payment question, or creates the draft work you need.

How tools behave
- Match the Wingspan app. Tool responses use the status labels, eligibility results, and dates shown in the Wingspan app.
- Identify missing information. When an assistant cannot retrieve part of an answer, it identifies the gap rather than supplying a value.
- Page list results. Lists return 25 rows at a time. The assistant shows that batch and can retrieve the next batch. Totals cover every record matching your filters, not only the displayed rows.
- Preview write operations. Write tools show a preview before they make a change. Some AI clients ask for an additional confirmation.
- Process valid rows independently. A failed row does not block valid rows in the same request. For example, if two of 30 contractor records have invalid email addresses, the remaining 28 can be processed and each result identifies its outcome.
- Limit write requests to 50 rows. Requests with more than 50 rows return an error that identifies the limit. Use the Wingspan app's import screen for larger contractor rosters.
Important limitations
MCP can create and open payables, but it cannot approve or pay them. create_payables creates drafts that contractors cannot see. open_payables releases those drafts. Complete approval and payment in the Wingspan app.
MCP also cannot move money, transfer funds, configure Account resources, start payroll runs, choose funding sources, manage invoices, or manage accounting integrations. See Wingspan MCP for the full scope.
